SBA veteran's clinics scheduled for late August in the Grand Canyon State

Military veterans in the Southwest have an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship and business growth this August.

Under the U.S. Small Business Administration, two Veteran's Small Business Clinics will be held in Arizona. Northland Pioneer College will host one clinic on August 30 at its Show Low campus, and another the following day at its Painted Desert Campus in Holbrook.

The clinics are free for veterans, and will take place in the evening. Both events will focus on startup assistance, such as building a business plan, searching and applying for commercial funding, navigating SBA lending and opening a franchise.

The SBA Veteran's Business Outreach program was established to help vets get a small business started, manage an existing venture or expand a company. The program connects entrepreneurs with area mentors, and has established connections with 16 regional organizations to create VBO centers across the country. The Region IX office, which covers Arizona, is based in Sacramento, California.

James Pipper of the SBA Veterans Affairs office will be on hand at the Arizona clinics, which are partly sponsored by the Northland Pioneer College Small Business Development Center.
