Ruralsourcing to boost production

With the economy slowly starting to pick up, many businesses are observing significant increases in workloads as consumers and clients resume their purchasing habits. Rather than hiring new employees, many companies are turning to a new trend called "ruralsourcing," reports Business Insider.

Ruralsourcing is the outsourcing of work to small communities and rural towns in the United States. Workers in these communities aren't finding job opportunities within their immediate vicinity, but through the power of the internet, are able to contribute to bigger businesses that hire them for contract work.

"As the economy slowly picks up steam, I'm happy to report that the ruralsourcing trend continues to grow," the source observes. "According to oDesk, small towns (those with populations under 15,000) are keeping pace with large cities in terms of the number of online workers per capita. Not only that, they have proportionally higher 'actively working' online populations in terms of hours worked per online contractor."

Many experts have advised against hiring, as consumers have not fully resumed pre-recession buying habits yet. Companies that need more help may want to consider ruralsourcing instead.
