New York county receives SBA loan for grocery store

A Save-A-Lot grocery store in the New York village of Holley recently secured an SBA loan to help fund construction in the new location.
The loan is worth $581,250, and will cover 75 percent of the total amount necessary to fund the store. An additional $171,167 grant will also be placed toward the Save-A-Lot, coming from Governor Andrew Cuomo's regional Economic Development Package, which he announced last month.
"The people of Holley should have access to a quality grocery store that provides local farm fresh products at affordable prices," said Congresswoman Kathy Hochul, who announced the loan. "I'm glad to have been an ardent supporter of this project early on, as I’m sure it will bring additional job opportunities to the community and will put more money into the pockets of Holley residents."
Hochul was a key cog in securing the loan, learning of Holley's need after speaking with mayor John Kenney during an August meeting about Orleans County.
The new store will replace a recently closed Jubilee Foods supermarket and is expected to employ 22 people on full- and part-time bases, Buffalo Business First reports. It's expected to open in late February.
