New workshop to assist Maryland small business owners

The Maryland Small Business Development Center has created a new tool to help small business owners realize growth through marketing, branding and networking.

MDSBDC has announced its Launchbox program, which will feature workshops this fall for regional small businesses. The events will be highly focused on the marketing techniques industry experts have found successful, as well as the use of newer systems such as social media.

"Applications are being accepted in each region," said Renee Sprow, director of MDSBDC. "Our business counselors will help identify new ways to think about your business and opportunities to grow your company."

The development center covers six separate districts in the state, and offers assistance with SBA lending and specialized programs, navigating commercial loans and connecting with venture capitalists. Training programs, such as free online courses on building a business plan and managing finances, are available, and entrepreneurs can access the center's expert counselors and certification assistance program. The Launchbox program is one of MDSBDC's specialized events.

"Whether you are launching a new business, re-branding or simply trying to find new ways to get your business to market this eight week workshop will provide you with a tool-kit and plan to move forward," noted Sprow.
