National Minority Small Business Person of the Year finalists announced

Finalists have been announced for this year's Minority Enterprise Development Week conference National Minority Small Business Person of the Year.

The conference will be held in Washington from September 27 to 30, and is a joint effort between the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency. This will mark the 29th installment of the event, and this year's theme is "Emerging Industries and Markets: A Blueprint for Success." In addition to recognition, attendees can take advantage of conferences on SBA lending and government contract programs.

"Minority businesses are a phenomenal asset to the U.S. economy in a variety of sectors, from manufacturing to hospitality services and everything in between," noted David Hinson, national director of the MBDA. "The businesses recognized through the MED Week awards program represent just a few of our nation's brightest and most innovative minority enterprises."

Dubbed the country's "largest federally sponsored event on minority enterprise development," the conference will choose between 10 finalists for the Person of the Year award. Those regional winners, one from each of 10 districts, come from companies as diverse as Fisher Contracting in Worcester, Massachusetts, to SBG Technology Solutions in Stafford, Virginia.
