NAMM and SCORE team up to help small music businesses

This year's annual National Association of Music Merchants show and conference will have an added bonus for music industry businesses in attendance. Nonprofit organization SCORE, a small business counseling service, will be partnering with NAMM to bring advice and information to the sector.

The show will be held this year from January 19 - 22 in Anaheim, California. Billing itself as "the world's largest, most important music products trade show," the conference brings together businesses in the industry, as well as consumers, musicians and members of the press. More than 9,000 businesses hold a NAMM membership, with approximately 3,000 classifying as music product-based small businesses.

"This is a great opportunity for NAMM’s small business members to get the mentoring assistance they need to start or grow their businesses," said SCORE CEO Ken Yancey.

SCORE has sent advisors and experts to the show in the past, and this year will be offering individual consultations on topics such as business operations and how to obtain a U.S. Small Business Administration loan. The organization works with the SBA and hosts workshops and events across the country, providing resources and mentoring to small business owners from all industries.
