Healthcare navigation company expands thanks to SBA, gains recognition

Accolade, based in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, was recently named to the Small Business Administration's SBA 100 list, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

Founded in 2007, Accolade employs 151 workers - far above the benchmark of 100 created jobs necessary to be considered by the SBA for the distinction. Using an SBA loan, the company has been able to expand rapidly, and according to the SBA's website, was recently named one of the Philadelphia area's top workplaces by the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily News.

Accolade serves more than 100,000 people, and, according to PBJ, helps employees of large companies to "navigate the healthcare system and make more effective use of their health benefits."

"We appreciate this recognition of our growth and success from the SBA," Tom Spann, CEO of Accolade, told the news source.

Spann added that because of increased demand, the company is looking to hire and train more registered nurses and social workers, with a goal of adding 100 more employees over the next year.
