Florida business owners grapple with success
5/11/2011
In Titusville, Florida, there is a fine line between operating a successful business and succumbing to the waning local economy. According to Florida Today, many companies in the area are considering whether the town is still profitable or if they would have better luck opening up shop elsewhere.
Of course, it isn't fair to blame the local economy entirely. For example, one entrepreneur, Gregory Pillar, who operated a photo development shop, also points to rapidly evolving technology that is phasing out the services of many local small businesses.
"I don’t think people want to close," Titusville area chamber of commerce president Marcia Gaedcke told the source. "Everybody that I’ve talked to is trying to hold on. People are trying to keep going. People are struggling for a number of reasons, including the economy and the double-whammy of the end of the shuttle program."
The situation in Titusville highlights the importance of both considering current prospects and future endeavors when opening a new company. By having a well thought-out business plan, small business owners will be better able to get the commercial loans they need to stay open.
