Deciding whether to change or upgrade health insurance
5/13/2011
The Obama's administration has provided small business owners with a number of new incentives to offer their employees health insurance, such as tax credits. However, as eHealthInsurance suggests, entrepreneurs need to talk to their employees to find out if upgrading or changing their insurance plans is worth it.
Many health insurance providers have significantly changed their offerings in light of President Barack Obama's new healthcare policy. If it has been a few years since a small business owner has shopped around for health insurance, it's worth the time to see if their current providers have updated their offerings or if they can get better deals elsewhere.
Of course, talking to employees is critical when considering changing providers. "If you're finding it hard to afford your current health insurance plan, talk to your employees before you start to shop for a new one. If they're educated about the new benefits resulting from health care reform, they may be more open to changes in their current coverage," notes the source.
With the majority of small business owners expecting to bring on new help, they should be looking for ways to maximize their coverage while minimizing costs.
