A startup success story at Zaarly
8/15/2011
Three co-founders of a new business idea are seeing fast results for a fast new service: Zaarly.
Bo Fishback, Ian Hunter and Eric Koester launched the company in May of 2011. In the manner of an online classified listing, users can post a service or product (or a request for the same), and connect with another local member to work out a place and time for the exchange.
While the premise isn't completely novel - local web-based classified ads have been offered for years through sites like Craigslist - it's a narrower frame for a specific subset of the service. Fishback, CEO of Zaarly, and his partners have taken a solidly functioning business idea and created a focused spin-off that so far has proven successful.
"People need a simple way to get what they want from people around them," Fishback said. "With Zaarly, you can now get what you want from your local community - goods, services or a way to earn extra cash."
The idea was first presented at the entrepreneurial and technological Startup Weekend Los Angeles event. Within a few weeks of the presentation, they had procured commercial funding and began building the website platform, and after only three months, their startup success story was under way.
